WEDDING

The Introduction: Donavon and Vaughan first met July 28th 2009 at Chinook mall in Calgary. Their mutual friend Kate was trying to set Vaughan up with one of her friends from high school; Andre Brown (please note who the best man is ;)). Donavon had come as Andre's ride and it just so happened Vaughan and Donavon hit it off. After dinner at Open Sesame and hanging out all together at a place Kate was house sitting, Andre and Kate were saying good-bye and Donavon, with honest sincerity, said to Vaughan, "You know you are family now, right?" It was at this point Vaughan knew she was going to be lucky to have him as a "friend" in her life. Donavon confesses that the moment he first saw her outside of chapters in the mall he had experienced true love at first sight.

The Boyfriend & Girlfriend: A few months went by and these two "friends" fell so deeply in love with one another by just spending time as friends, going for coffee, movies, lunch together, meeting each other's family and friends, they finally became an official pair while on a group vacation to Hawaii. One beautiful day Donavon set out early to pick up special gifts for Vaughan and brought her breakfast and Starbucks. He then handed her a note with a yes or no checklist of four different questions, the last one being, "will you be my girl?" with a yes check from Vaughan, Vaughan and Donavon embarked on a new journey together. These two were soul friends before they were soul mates, and with every passing day their friendship bond becomes greater and their love truly grows deeper.

The Proposal: December 4th, 2013. A trip to Cuba. Before their departure to Cuba Donavon secured many gifts and presents to bring with him for Vaughan, including the engagement ring. Once they arrived in Cuba, everyday Vaughan awoke to a special gift, earings, bracelets, dresses... Until one day at the beach. Donavon brought Vaughan out to the ocean to snorkel. The first time Vaughan had ever snorkeled was while they were in Hawaii together and she had to be strongly encouraged to do so... horror thoughts from the movie jaws kept her from wanting to explore too much of what lived below the water!! However with his kind encouragement she finally decided to do it and then couldn't stop following the fish around! This time in Cuba when she went snorkeling it wasn't fish that caught her eye, but a small jewelry box that started to float her way. She swam to the box, opened it, and Donavon proposed to her in the ocean. However it didn't end there. That night Donavon took Vaughan to a private restaurant to have a celebration dinner in town. Before the meal came Donavon got up to ask the server to "take a picture of them" while he had the camera on video. It was at this time he got down on one knee and proposed to her for a second time with the real ring. (the first proposal in the ocean was done with a fake ring so it wouldn't get lost in the waves). The night was magical and full of love. The drive back to the resort was a token memory of happiness listening to "Vivir Mi Vida," thanks to the driver who had helped set up the whole night with Donavon.

These two have built a relationship built on their friendship, their love for each other, respect, selfless kindness, sincerity, genuineness, generosity, and God. They enjoy "sowing seeds" into other lives in order to enrich their own with joy. They see each other as the best part of their lives even and after 8 years. They continue to fall in love. The hardest sacrifice they make is time apart. They feel blessed, happy and beyond measure, love.
