  • Who are you?
My name is Jaime Lynn Marr (Nee Chipman). I have been happily married to Matthew Marr for 16 years. We have three lovely children together; Cale, Aven Saige, and Brie. I love themes and food! I've even thought about creating a sandwhich out of my children's name, ha! We just recently acquired a dog (Maximus) and he has placed himself right into the family. I moved around a lot as a child but do call Sundre, AB and Chilliwack, BC home. I am the oldest of 5 girls (Me, Jennifer, Diandra, Lexy, and Samantha) I was raised by a single mom, Robin and I'm thankful for the line of strong, independant women I come from. I have a great relationship with my dad and feel the role dads play in their children's lives are underappreciated. I am a horrible cook but love to eat. I am a non-smoker but enjoy a social beverage. I got my first tattoo at 40 and am seriously thinking of getting a full sleeve. Shhh don't tell my husband. (haha) I am an unapologetic Christian who believes in the God of the bible. I do not attend any local churches but know of them and appreciate what they bring to our community. My path to Christianity - after a stint as a new-age wiccan - is a long and interesting tale. I'm happy to share with anyone interested. I graduated with a diplomia in Secondary Education from Red Deer College. I completed a Bachelors of Arts, Social Science degree from the University of Lethbridge where I predominately majored in Anthropology. As a social scientist I do have a tendancy to geek-out when I'm learning new things. Everything is a study and potential project when I'm observing things. I believe this unique skill will assist me as councillor as I will bring a unique perspective to the board. I started a website design and administrative support service in 2008 while on maternity leave. MARRvellous Solutions is my little baby. I have watched it grow and have so much more planned but like SO many of you, find myself juggling all the other hats. I love helping start up and small buiness owners succeed. I have nothing to hide and welcome any questions.
  • Why are you running for Town Council?
I've always thought about running but never felt it was the right time. I didn't have the time, raising small children, and working in various large community spotlights affected my desire to run. With the way the world has changed this past few years and after much discussion with my husband we both felt it was time. I believe I bring some unique perspective to the table. Strong opinions and compassion. A woman is built different and it will be important to have a female voice representing this community for the next few years. I want to be a voice for the female. The working mom, the stay at home mom (I've done both!), the entreprenuer (yup...me again) community volunteer and lover of this area (absolutely!) I value hard-work, self determination, community engaement, sustainable practices, freedome, faith, and outdoor family living. I believe I can be a voice for a large section of our community. I want to build upon the greatness that Sundre is and continue to move it forward with passion and dedication.
  • Is this your first time running or have you ran before?
This will be the first time running for a seat on Sundre Town Council. I have sat on a few community volunteer committees in the past. I am excited for the opportunity to run and hope I can secure your vote.
  • How long have you lived in Sundre? Is your family from here?
I was born in Olds and attended both schools here. I graduated in 1998 and moved away to go to school and get married. My husband and I moved back to Sundre in 2007 after deciding we wanted to raise children in a small town; seeing as we both valued rural community and small town life. My grandfather, Reed Chipman, taught high school and was the basketball coach for years. He raised race horses just west of town before getting sick with cancer and passing away in 1981. My other grandparents, Dot and Roy McCartney, were the elementary custodians for a number of years.
